accents

while at lunch for my dad's bday w/ my sister, her husband and their newborn my dad asked my brother in law - 'how long have your parents (originally from England) been in the US? that's crazy how they still have their accent'...he said this all in his fresh off the boat Filipino accent. he's been here for 35 years.
